WEATHERFORD – SWOSU softball dropped their series finale with East Central 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.
SWOSU moves to 9-11 on the year and 6-3 in conference play. They will stay home and have their next games at the SWOSU Athletic Complex on Tuesday, March 12th at 2:00 pm for a midweek conference doubleheader against rival Northwestern Oklahoma State.
SWOSU went down early in the game allowing four runs on five hits in the first two innings.
Courtney Hill relieved starter
Blaire Gentry after the second inning and slowed down the game, however, the Bulldogs never found their offensive rhythm and eventually lost the game with a 4-1 final score.
The Dawgs had a chance to gain some momentum with runners on first and second and one out in the final inning. A
Jadyn Hook single had
Cierah Jones rounding third and heading home to try to start the comeback, but some over-aggressive base running led to an out at the plate, stopping the chances for a series sweep against the Tigers.
Maddie Rahon led the Dawgs, going 3-4 with a double on the day.
Shallen Mershon added the other extra base hit with a double of her own.
Katie Boline,
Jordyn Wadley, and
Jadyn Hook all added singles to round out the Dawgs seven hits on the day.
Blaire Gentry, who started on the mound for the Dawgs, allowed five hits and four earned runs in her 2.0 innings pitched.
Courtney Hill faced 17 batters after coming in relief in the third inning, scattering two hits and striking out three batters.
