Hill’s No-No, Bulldog’s Offense Highlight Friday Sweep of Ouachita

WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Softball got the ideal start to conference play Friday with a pair of wins over Ouachita by 7-1 and 8-0 finals. The Bulldogs totaled 21 hits in 11 offensive innings and allowed just one run on the day, highlighted by Courtney Hill's complete game no-hitter in a shortened game two due to run rule.

The Bulldogs (5-8, 2-0 GAC) will try for a series sweep against the Tigers at noon on Saturday in Weatherford.

Hill became the first Bulldog pitcher to notch a no-hitter since March 15, 2019 when Kaytlin Donaldson also threw a no-no against Ouachita in a shortened five-inning affair.

Game One – SWOSU 7, Ouachita 1

The Dawgs scored a run in the third inning, two more in the fourth, and finally used a four-run sixth to comfortably beat the Tigers in game one.

Chesnie Hewitt hit her second home run of the season in the third to right field to get things going. RBI singles from Jordyn Wadley and Skyla McPhillips made the score 3-0 an inning later.

Five hits – all singles – in the sixth inning, mixed with two Ouachita errors, dealt the final blow as SWOSU was able to push a 3-1 lead to 7-1.

Blaire Gentry (W, 4-5) threw all seven innings, scattered six hits, and struck out four while walking two. The Tigers scored their lone run in the fifth after three consecutive singles plated one home.

Hewitt, McPhillips, and Wadley all finished 2-3 with a run scored and a combined four RBIs.

Game Two – SWOSU 8, Ouachita 0 (5 inn.)

While Hill worked in the circle, SWOSU used a pair of strong innings to build an early 5-0 lead. They scored three in the second inning and another two in the third before three runs in the fifth ended things for good.

Jadyn Hook and Rebeca Fajardo's RBI doubles led an offense that notched 11 hits in five innings. Chesnie Hewitt added another extra-base hit to her day after also hitting a double.

Fajardo finished 3-3 with three runs scored.

Hill's final line was 5.0 innings pitched, six strikeouts, two walks, and 17 batters faced.
