Rice Finalizes Inaugural Staff for 2024

WEATHERFORD – New SWOSU Football head coach Andrew Rice has announced the addition of six new full-time coaches to the staff.
 
Joining the Bulldogs in 2024 are coaches Jon Clark, Mike Lucas, Boone Feldt, Ryan Watts, Jack Meservy, and DT Barkley.
 
"I'm fired up to have this group of coaches alongside me," said Rice. "Each one possesses a skillset that makes the SWOSU program better and they are all great representatives of the brand of football I'm here to create. All are all phenomenal coaches no doubt, but they're all even better people, and I know they will make the Weatherford community and Bulldog Nation proud."

Clark brings over a decade of collegiate coaching experience which followed his Division I playing days at Arizona State. His coaching tenure has brought him to Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri spanning from the junior college level to all three divisions of the NCAA. 
 
He comes to Weatherford from Northwestern Oklahoma State where he was the Defensive Coordinator in 2023 and worked alongside Coach Rice at Central Oklahoma in 2021.

Lucas will head the defense for the Bulldogs, as the most tenured coach on staff. He has spent well over 30 years coaching on the sidelines of Division I football teams and has also been a head coach at that same level.
 
He comes to Weatherford from fellow Oklahoma Division II school Northeastern State where he was defensive coordinator for the RiverHawks for the past two seasons. Prior to that, Lucas accrued defensive coordinator experience at Northwestern State (La.), UL Lafayette, Indiana State, Southeastern (La.), and Sam Houston State. He was also head coach at Southeastern (La.) from 2007-12.

boone feldtBoone Feldt – Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line – Link to Full Bio
 
Feldt possesses Division I & II coaching experience with stops at Northwestern State (La.), Texas State, and Texas Permian Basin. His time at UTPB coincides with the start of the Falcon football program.
 
He is coming up on a decade of coaching experience after beginning his career in 2014 in Texas after his playing days at North Texas got cut short due to spinal injury. Feltd is the son of retired college coach, Blake Feldt, who also won state high school championships in Texas and has been labeled 'an up-and-coming coach with experience beyond his years.'
 
"Coach Feldt was raised by a Texas High School football coach and has experience building programs. He possesses a great offensive mind and the lineman he will be over will set the tone for who we (SWOSU) will be on offense."

Watts spent six years at Missouri Western (2017-22) of the MIAA as Wide Receivers Coach with additional duties as both the Griffon's Director of Football Operations and Recruiting Coordinator.  Most recently he was over wide receivers and special teams at Morehead State in 2023, a Division I FCS school in Kentucky.

His career started at a pair of Division I schools in Texas – Stephen F. Austin and then Abilene Christian.

jack meservyJack Meservy – Wide Receiver, Recruiting Coordinator – Link to Full Bio
 
Meservy began his coaching tenure at Northeastern State (2019-23) where he worked his way from graduate assistant to offensive coordinator in his five years in Tahlequah.
 
While at NSU, Meservy was also the RiverHawk's Recruiting Coordinator in 2023 and Director of Football Operations for two years prior. A native of Lawton, Oklahoma, he played quarterback from 2015-18 at Middlebury College – a Division III powerhouse in Vermont.

Barkley comes to Weatherford from Northwestern Oklahoma State where he was the Assistant Defensive Line Coach for the Rangers in 2023.  He began his coaching career a year prior at UTPB where he was also over the Falcons' defensive lineman.
 
As a player, Barkley began his journey at Independence Community College in Kansas where he was on the Indy team featured in Netflix's Last Chance U season 3. As a top-ranked Defensive Tackle in 2017, Barkley eventually went on to transfer to UNC-Charlotte before two more stops at Tennessee at Chattanooga and finally Winston Salem State.
