Bulldogs Blank Lopers 6-0

EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Softball got a combined shutout from Blaire Gentry and Courtney Hill and provided six runs on offense to beat Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday's second day of action at the Raising Cane's Softball Festival.

The Bulldogs got three runs in the third, another two in the fourth, and capped off their scoring with one final run in the sixth. They were led at the plate by Rebeca Fajardo and Jadyn Hook who combined for half of SWOSU's eight total hits in the game. Fajardo finished 2-3 with two runs scored and a double, while Hook was 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Fajardo jump started the third inning when she led off the frame with a single. A wild pitch and an RBI single from Katie Boline had SWOSU up 3-0 after three.

An inning later, Fajardo doubled after a Chesnie Hewitt walk to start the inning. Taylor McMahon did her job with an RBI ground out, followed later by a Jadyn Hook RBI single for a 5-0 lead.

A Loper error on defense in the sixth allowed the final run to cross after a Maddie Rahon single.

Gentry (W, 3-4) threw the game's first four innings before giving way to Hill who earned the save after throwing three effective innings in relief. Hill struck out four, walked one and scattered two hits.

SWOSU's evening game against Northeastern State on Saturday was canceled, leaving Sunday's pair of games against (RV) Missouri Southern and No. 11 Central Oklahoma left on the weekend schedule. Those game times tomorrow come at 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm in Edmond.
