ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – SWOSU Women's Basketball fell 62-53 to Henderson State on Saturday after the Reddies pulled away in the fourth quarter. It's SWOSU's second loss to HSU this season.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed 40-35 after three quarters and eventually had the score tied 44-44 with 8:39 to play in the game until an ensuing 10-0 run by the Reddies allowed them breathing room the rest of the way.
SWOSU could not get shots to fall after HSU's run. They started the fourth quarter with three straight three-point makes but finished 3-14 down the stretch.
SWOSU led 14-12 through one quarter, but HSU took a 28-24 lead into halftime after shooting 8-for-10 from the foul line in the second quarter.
The Reddies did not miss a free throw in the second half, finishing 8-of-8 after halftime and 16-of-18 in the game. Meanwhile SWOSU struggled in the game at the foul line, going just 9-of-17 (53%).
Despite the Lady Bulldogs wining the turnover battle 19-12 in the contest, the Reddies outscored SWOSU 17-15 in points off turnovers.
Averi Zinn was SWOSU's lone double-digit scorer. She finished with 15 points (4-14 shooting) and five assists, but committed six turnovers.
SWOSU (12-10, 9-7 GAC) returns home winless in two tries in Arkadelphia. They'll remain away from Weatherford next week with a rivalry matchup on Thursday (2/15) and against Northwestern and another road game at Southeastern on Saturday (2/17).
