Bulldogs & Rangers Clash in Season Finale

SENIOR DAY
SWOSU vs Northwestern
Nov. 16 • 3:00 pm • Weatherford/Flex-Chem Field

SWOSU and Northwestern will face off on Saturday in the final game of the regular season, with one team looking to finish the schedule on a high note.

Both teams enter as winners of two games this season with 2-8 records, thus, one will finish strong with a third win and ahead of the other in the final conference standings. The Bulldogs will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak.

If SWOSU's defense plays like it did in the first half against a stout Henderson State team a week ago, they'll be in good shape. The Bulldogs limited the now 8-2 Reddies to just 132 yards in the first half and trailed just 7-3 at the break last Saturday.

Logan Monroe and Keshaun Jackson headed that effort. Monroe recorded his fifth sack of the season and Jackson led the defense with eight tackles.

In that game quarterback Tate Robards, with three starts to his name, threw for over 200 yards for a second time this season with touchdown connections to Baylor Nash and Zion Mercer. It was his first multi-passing touchdown game of the season.

SWOSU's 345 total yards of offense against HSU was also the second most total yardage of 2024. Malik Roberson's 73 yards on 18 carries was his second most rushing yards of the season. He averaged greater than four yards per rush for the third time this year.

After the Bulldogs had racked up 20 forced turnovers in seven games, that number has slowed down from week eight to now. Since the Dawgs had three turnovers against Oklahoma Baptist on October 19, SWOSU has had just two in three games for a total of 22 on the year. That's a turnover count that still ranks third in the league entering the final week.

Northwestern enters the game with their own struggles on offense. They have averaged 11.9 points and 189 yards per game this season, which ranks 12th in the GAC. On defense, it's been similar – surrendering 40 points and 407 yards of offense.

Last year, the Bulldogs endured a 41-0 loss to the Rangers in Alva. SWOSU has lost five of the last six to Northwestern dating back to 2017. The last win came in 2022 – a 41-28 victory in Weatherford.

10 Bulldog seniors will be honored prior to the game.
