BETHANY, Okla. – The SWOSU volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over Southern Nazarene on Thursday, overcoming an early setback to secure a third consecutive win.
It marks the second straight game the Bulldogs have fallen behind 1-0 before winning in four sets. The result pushes them to 8-6 on the year and 4-1 in GAC play.
The match got off to a tightly contested start, with the first set tied 16-16 before SNU went on a 6-0 run to take the set 25-21. SWOSU flipped the script in the second set, facing a 14-12 deficit before using a 6-0 run of their own to eventually take it 25-18. This momentum swing carried into the final two sets, winning 25-16 in both the third and fourth.
Lacy Mott led the team with 22 kills, her second consecutive game with 20-plus kills and her third such performance in five conference matches. Hailey Smith added 10 kills and Paris Patterson contributed 9.
Jada Permenter recorded 21 digs, marking her third consecutive game with 20-plus digs. Terez Chavez had 29 assists, while Cameron Turner added 17. Samantha Kuzma led the team with 4 blocks.
Both teams committed 17 errors, but SWOSU outhit the Storm .280 to .192.
The Bulldogs' busy week continues with two more home games later this week. SWOSU hosts Southern Arkansas on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Arkansas-Monticello on Friday at 4 p.m.
