SEARCY, Ark. – SWOSU was able to capture its first conference win of the year with a 1-0 road victory over Harding on Thursday night thanks to a collective defensive effort.
SWOSU got its lone goal from the left foot of junior Hannah Guiterrez in the 61st minute of the contest, her second of the season. She combined for three shots in the match with two of those on goal. The score came courtesy of Philippine de Sancy's assist.
In the first half, the Bulldogs were outshot by the Lady Bisons 9-5 but controlled the corner kick count 5-1. SWOSU faced an additional nine Harding shots in the second half, but none found the back of the net. Terra Rybuck accumulated five saves on the night to pick up her first shutout of the season.
The Dawgs now sit at 3-5-1 overall, 1-2 in the GAC, and will continue their road trip on Saturday October 5th at noon against Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
