WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU hosted Southern Nazarene on Saturday for a GAC matchup, ending in a 0-0 tie after 90 minutes.
The evenly matched game saw both teams neck and neck throughout. In the first half, SWOSU held a slight edge in shots (7-6) and saves (2-1), thanks to
Terra Rybuck's impressive performance. She wrapped up the game with five saves, shutting out the opposition with help from the entire defense.
SWOSU's best chance came in the 13th minute following a penalty in the box that allowed
Julie Andersen to take a penalty kick. The attempt was denied however, keeping the score intact and spoiling the Bulldog opportunity.
The second half followed suit, with both teams tied in shots (8), fouls (3), and neither attempting a corner kick. Although SWOSU had five shots on goal in the final 45 minutes, they couldn't capitalize due to SNU's solid goalkeeper.
The final stats showed SWOSU leading in shots (15-14) and shots on goal (6-5).
Ruth Vasquez and
Hannah Guiterrez led the Dawgs with three shots each. SNU received three yellow cards, while SWOSU had none.
The tie brings SWOSU's record to 4-6-3 and 2-3-2 in GAC play. They'll enjoy a week off before facing East Central in Ada on October 26th at 12:00 pm.
