Dawgs Settle for 1-1 Draw After Late Ranger Goal

ALVA, Okla. – The Dawgs made the trip up north to Alva to face rival Northwestern Oklahoma State for the first meeting of the season. SWOSU jumped ahead early in the second half but a late goal by the Rangers forced a draw in Wednesday night's matchup.

Ruth Vasquez opened the scoring early in the second half with a strike to the top left corner that put the Dawgs up 1-0. The Ranger equalizer came in the 77th minute when a shot taken halfway to midfield crept between the crossbar and Allie Vasquez's outreached glove.

SWOSU had a chance with just over one minute left of game time, but a final shot off the foot of Hannah Guiterrez went wide left.

Guiterrez ended the night with the most shots for SWOSU. Her six shots, four on goal, were both team highs while Ruth Vasquez added four shots including her second goal of the season. Allie Vasquez ended with a season high 10 saves.

SWOSU will make their way back home to host Southern Nazarene on Saturday, October 19th at 2:00 pm at the SWOSU Athletic Complex.
