Dawgs Bested By Central Oklahoma in Edmond

EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU soccer took on Central Oklahoma under the lights on for a night game on Wednesday. The Bulldogs struck first, but fell 4-1.

SWOSU drops to 0-2-1 through three games. They have faced a challenging non-conference schedule so far with two ranked opponents and the Bronchos tonight, who received votes in the poll.

The Dawgs claimed the first lead a little under three minutes into play. Natalie Freeman rebounded a shot from Anna Bager that was saved by the UCO keeper to claim the quick goal. This put SWOSU up 1-0 and gave Freeman her first score of the year. Unluckily, this would be the only two shots on goal for the Dawgs in the game.

UCO came right back with a rebound goal of their own seven minutes later. They added two more through the middle stretch of the first half to give them a 3-1 lead into the break. A second half insurance goal pushed the Broncho advantage too far for the Bulldogs to overcome.

Freeman grabs the lone goal for SWOSU and led them with two shots. UCO doubled SWOSU in total shots 15-7. Their shots on goal (8) were greater than the total shots (7) for the Dawgs.

The season rolls on across state lines for soccer when they travel to Colorado on Sunday (Sept. 10) for a 1 pm. match with Colorado-Colorado Springs.
