Mott Named First GAC Offensive Player of the Week of ’23

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – In the first installment of Great American Conference weekly honors, SWOSU Volleyball junior outside hitter Lacy Mott was named the GAC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts at the Midwestern State Classic last week.

Mott (Waxahachie, Texas) averaged 3.94 kills per set in four matches, helping lift the Bulldogs to a 3-1 start to the season. SWOSU started the season with three consecutive wins for the first time in program history and went 3-1 on the weekend – the best such start since 2018.

The lone loss came at the hands of Central Oklahoma, who was (and is) receiving votes in the AVCA National Poll. Despite the loss, Mott still turned in a strong performance with a season high 21 kills while adding 13 digs. It was her second double-double of the young season.

On the week, Mott hit .293 overall and added six assists and five service aces. Her 49 digs also ranked second on the team.

This is the first weekly recognition for Mott in her career. She represents the first Bulldog to be named a GAC Player of the Week this season, after the Bulldogs had just one award winner last season.

She and the rest of the squad will be back to action this weekend in Durango, Colorado at the Fort Lewis College Tournament where there will be another four matches played over a span of two days.
