Bulldogs Shutout Harding to Secure First Win

SEARCY, Ark. – SWOSU Soccer took down Harding 1-0 on the road on Wednesday afternoon, securing the first win of the season.

The victory pushes SWOSU to 1-6-2 on the year and now 1-1-1 in conference play. It's the first time this season SWOSU has held its opponent scoreless.

The game winner came just minutes into the second half, courtesy of Ruth Vasquez who has now scored two goals in three games for the Bulldogs. She was assisted by Natalie Freeman, which is her first assist of the season.

Both sides entered halftime tied at 0-0, but Harding appeared to have more opportunities through the first half. They took seven shots and added six corners as the aggressor but had nothing to show for it.

Things flipped in the second half. SWOSU doubled Harding's shot count and only had to face one corner kick. The Dawgs forced Harding goalkeeper into six saves in the match, while Terra Rybuck posted her first clean sheet of the season with three saves to her credit.

SWOSU will look to build upon the momentum from Wednesday by returning home to play host to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff for that GAC contest will come at 1:00 p.m. at the Athletic Complex.
