WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU's Natalie Freeman had a game-tying score early in the second half, but Ouachita answered with the game winner nearly 10 minutes later and went on to defeat the Bulldogs 2-1 in Saturday's conference matchup.
SWOSU drops to 1-2-1 in GAC play while Ouachita moves to 2-0-1 in the league while continuing to sit atop the standings.
The Tigers opened up the scoring in the 34th minute with a header that found net following a cross. Ouachita led 1-0 at the half.
Out of the locker room, the Dawgs answered. In the 57th minute, Micaella Swain found an opening just inside the box and delivered a shot that hit off the cross bar and found Freeman who collected the rebound and kicked it home for her team-leading third goal of the season.
Ouachita spoiled the tie in the 66th minute with a floating line drive kick from right to left in the box with enough loft to carry over Bulldog keeper Terra Rybuck.
For the second time in as many games, SWOSU got seven shots on goal – a number that ties their season high. Both sides finished with 16 total shots. Ouachita put six on goal, including their two goals.
Rybuck finished with four saves. Swain's assist was her first of the season.
Next week will feature just one match instead of the typical two. SWOSU will host East Central on Wednesday, October 4 before taking a week off from action.
