MONTICELLO, Ark. – SWOSU Softball opened their final road series against Arkansas-Monticello with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Blossoms were victorious in both games. They won game one 8-1 and game two 3-2.
SWOSU stays in Arkansas tomorrow for another game with Arkansas-Monticello. The single game begins at 12:00 pm.
GAME ONE – UAM 8, SWOSU 1
SWOSU got the game started with their sole run in the first inning.
Maddie Rahon doubled to kick it off and got moved around until
Katie Boline scored her on a sacrifice fly.
UAM put two of their own on the board in the first as well. They reached on a walk and multiple singles to score their runs.
The Blossoms scored two more runs in the third. Small ball was their strategy again as three singles helped bring the runners across. This stretched their advantage to 4-1.
Four more insurance runs were scored in the bottom of the fifth to put the game away for Arkansas-Monticello. They batted around with four base hits and a couple walks in the inning.
Brianna Cryer went the full 6.0 innings and took the loss.
Maddie Rahon finished 2-3 with a double and a run scored.
GAME TWO – UAM 3, SWOSU 2
SWOSU again got on the board in the first inning. A hit by pitch and two singles loaded the bases with one out. A sacrifice fly from

Kaylee Barkley to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
They extended the lead to 2-0 in the second inning.
Macey Buss doubled with two outs and an error in the field by UAM scored her from second base. This lead wouldn't hold as the Blossoms responded in the bottom of the inning.
UAM started the next frame with two singles. A double to left field brought both base runners home and tied the game up at 2-2.
SWOSU had an opportunity to retake the lead in the fifth. They had the bases loaded with one out but two strikeouts subsequently ended the inning with no runs scored.
It was 2-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning for UAM. The Dawgs achieved the two outs in the first two batters and looked to be sending the game into extra innings. A single put the winning run on base. Another single from the next batter scored her to give Arkansas-Monticello the walk-off win.
Taryn Westbrook was on the hook for the loss and pitched the entire 6.2 innings of play for SWOSU.
Kaylee Barkley and
Macey Buss both batted 1-3 and scored a run each.
