ALVA, Okla. – SWOSU Softball was on the road on Tuesday in a rivalry matchup with Northwestern Oklahoma State. After going down 4-0 early, SWOSU outscored Northwestern 9-1 the rest of the way to defeat the Lady Rangers 9-5.
SWOSU got back in the win column at the right time. This victory should give SWOSU some confidence heading into a home weekend series with (RV) Southern Arkansas. It starts on Friday afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 pm.
The Lady Rangers brought the bats in the opening frame. Multiple walks put runners on and three base hits moved these runners around. All nine batters had a plate appearance in the first, scoring four runs in the process.
An answer to the big inning came in the top of the third.

Maddie Rahon from second to put SWOSU on the board.
The fifth inning saw SWOSU put up four of their own in a flurry. Three straight singles gave the Bulldogs loaded bases with no outs. Subsequently, three Northwestern errors brought all four runs home to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the day.
NWOSU stole all the momentum right back due to a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, tying things up at 5-5. No scoring in the sixth set up a winner take all final inning.
SWOSU put together four consecutive base hits, including two straight two RBI doubles, to brake the game open. Another four-run inning for the Dawgs put them up 9-5. A three up three down bottom of the seventh sealed the comeback win.
Kaylee Barkley got the win in relief and batted 2-5 in the game.
Maddie Rahon continued to perform on offense, finishing 3-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Skyla McPhillips ended 2-3 for the game while adding an RBI and a run scored.
