DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball split Saturday's series opening doubleheader with Southeastern Oklahoma State with a 15-10 loss in game one and 8-6 comeback victory in game two.
The Dawgs finished the day strong with a win in game two to salvage a split of the day's action. They'll regroup and prepare to try and win the deciding game three of the series tomorrow at 12:00 pm.
Game 1 – SEOSU 15, SWOSU 10
SWOSU fell behind 4-0 after the first two innings of play and simply was trying to catch up from that point forward. The offense was on fire at the plate tallying up 17 hits, but were unable to drive runners in, leaving 13 on base. Meanwhile, Southeastern's bats were just as effective as they finished with 19 hits themselves.
Matt Milner (L, 2-3) threw 2.0 innings and allowed six hits and seven earned runs. He was credited with the loss.
Andrew Beissner came in for relief to pitch 1.2 innings and only allowed two hits and one run.
Alex Rice had the hot bat, finishing 3-5 with a homerun, a double, and two RBI's.
Emilio Trevino also had three hits and an RBI.
Game 2 – SWOSU 8, SEOSU 6
SWOSU fell behind 6-0 after five innings of play and clawed their way back into the game with all eight of their runs coming in the last two innings of play. Eight of the Dawgs 11 hits came in the sixth inning or later, helping them comeback and secure the win.
Jackson Phillips provided the Dawgs with 4.1 solid innings pitched in his start on the mound, striking out seven and allowing four hits and five runs – four of those earned.
Ernesto Hidrogo (W, 1-1) came in for relief and threw one inning while striking out two.
Emilio Trevino had another productive game going 1-3 with three RBI. His one hit was a three-run bomb to bring the Dawgs within two.
