WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball couldn't get much going against No. 20-ranked Arkansas Tech on Friday, falling to the Wonder Boys 17-0 in a shortened game.
The Dawgs drop to 14-13 on the season and 8-8 in GAC play. SWOSU faced a similar run-rule loss result in the opening game of last week's Harding series and responded with a pair of strong wins to close out the series. They will have the chance to replicate that tomorrow when the two sides play a doubleheader starting at noon out at the Athletic Complex.
Before the levee broke for good in the seventh inning, SWOSU trailed 5-0 in the sixth but had the bases loaded. Unfortunately, a ground ball double play allowed Tech to escape the inning unscathed and keep SWOSU off the scoreboard.
12 runs and 10 hits later in the next half inning, ATU broke open a once manageable ballgame.
Chris Goldston (L, 1-3) started and went 4.2 innings. He struck out six and walked one. Four additional bullpen arms made appearances from there.
Caleb Clines finished 2-3 with a double.
