LUBBOCK, Texas – SWOSU softball dropped both games on Sunday against some strong competition. They lost game one to No. 22 Washburn 4-1. Host No. 21 Lubbock Christian was game two and they defeated the Dawgs 9-1.
This finishes the LCU Tournament. SWOSU looks ahead toward the Midwestern State Invitational next Friday – Sunday. Their first game will be against Rockhurst at 4:30 pm on Friday.
Game One - #22 Washburn 4, SWOSU 1
All of the action happened early in this 12 pm contest. Washburn took a 1-0 lead after an error in top of the first. Then the first batter up in the top of the second hit a solo home run to add another run. It would be 4-0 by the middle of the third after a two-run shot from the Ichabods.
A
Skye Tilley single would score
Macey Buss in the fourth to cut the difference to three but that would be the last run of the game. They had a chance, with bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the fifth, but left all of the runners stranded after a pitching change from Washburn.
Taryn Westbrook performed well in the circle. She didn't allow a hit after the fourth inning and only gave up three the entire game.
Caitlin Delaney finished an efficient 2-for-3 while
Maddie Rahon went 2-for-4.
Skye Tilley came up with the only RBI of the game.
Game Two - #21 Lubbock Christian 9, SWOSU 1
This one got away from the Bulldogs today. LCU benefited from only playing this game today, while SWOSU finished up their game against Washburn a few minutes before the start of this contest.
Lubbock Christian didn't waste any time scoring. They scored three runs in the first and four runs in the second, including three home runs. This hole was too massive for SWOSU to come back from.
They kept fighting though and saw
Jordyn Wadley score
Skye Tilley in the top of the fourth. This was the only SWOSU run of the game though. LCU scored one more run in the bottom of the fifth to end this one in five innings.
Dani Carmo got a hit in her only at bat of the game.
Jordyn Wadley was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
