WEATHERFORD – SWOSU soccer had GAC Tournament seeding on the line against Southern Nazarene on Senior Day. After a scoreless first half, the Crimson Storm outpaced the Dawgs in the second and SWOSU fell 3-1.
SWOSU ends the regular season 5-5-2 in league play and will now prepare for the postseason tournament. The Dawgs, who will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming GAC Tournament, will match up with conference champion Oklahoma Baptist in the first round.
In the last home game of the 2023 season for the Bulldogs, the first half was all defense. Both teams operated within the attacking half, but good shots were hard to come by. It looked headed toward a defensive battle after no scores in the opening 45 minutes.
The Crimson Storm offense found new life in the second half though. Two goals early in the half from the opposition saw SWOSU in a 2-0 hole. SWOSU scored next with an
Anna Bager goal. Bager got the ball in space from
Elise LaForge and split two defenders to cut the deficit in half with under 20 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately, another SNU goal would close the door for good.
Anna Bager gets her first goal of the year on her only shot of the game.
