RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU's Lacy Mott was named the Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, winning the honor for the first time in her career.
Mott, SWOSU's offensive leader who ranks fifth in the conference in kills, gets recognized for her defensive efforts this week after a 14-kill, 19 dig performance against East Central last Thursday.
It's the first time a Bulldog has been awarded the league's offensive and defensive player of the week title in the same season since Markenzie Benoit did so in 2021. Mott and Benoit are the only two Bulldogs to achieve the feat in the GAC era.
Against ECU last week, SWOSU's defense held the Tigers to a negative hitting percentage led by Mott's 19 digs (6.33/set) and 14 kills (4.67/set) in a 3-0 sweep. It's her 13th double-double this season.
SWOSU plays the next three matches away from Weatherford before hosting Northwestern in the regular season finale on November 9. They'll battle Southeastern and Southern Nazarene on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
