Soccer Blows Past East Central

ADA, Okla. – SWOSU Soccer secured its second shutout victory of the season in a 4-0 road victory over East Central on Friday.

SWOSU's four goals ties for the season high for scoring output. The win pushes the Bulldogs to 4-4-2 in conference play and inches them closer to securing a playoff bid with two regular season matches remaining.

The Bulldogs got one goal on the board in the first half and piled on after halftime. A pair of penalty kicks from Julie Andersen (24') and Sola Tsuruta (63') gave SWOSU the first two goals. Then, goals two minutes apart midway through the second half by Elvira Gunnarsson (78') and Hannah Guiterrez ('80) put the margin out of reach for good.

The final two goals came from assists from Micaella Swain – her team leading fourth and fifth of the season.

SWOSU put 13 shots on goal compared to three from ECU and edged the Tigers in corner kicks, 3-2. It was goalkeeper Amelia Forsling's first shutout of the season.

The final two opponents for the Dawgs will be Oklahoma Baptist on the road next Wednesday, Nov. 1, and Southern Nazarene back at home on Saturday, Nov. 4.

As it stands, SWOSU sits in fourth place in the conference in what would be the final spot to qualify for the postseason tournament held Nov. 9-11.
