RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Men's Basketball senior guard Chris Braggs, Jr. was named the latest Great American Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
He joins teammate Ben Smith as Bulldogs who have earned the conference's weekly honor this season.
Braggs (Oklahoma City) averaged 23.0 points in three home wins for SWOSU, which included a 30-point scoring outburst against Arkansas Tech to set a new career high. He entered the week having never eclipsed the 20-point scoring mark as a Bulldog and did so twice in three chances last week.
Braggs also averaged over five rebounds a contest and camped out at the free throw line. He went 31-for-36 (86%) from the charity stripe accounting for nearly half of his total points as a direct result from his physical attacks to the basket.
The fifth-year senior has had himself a month since coming back from Christmas Break. In the year 2023, Braggs is averaging four points greater, 16.7 ppg, than his season average, 12.2, and recently joined the 1,000 career points scoring club.
SWOSU, winners of three straight, returns to action on the road later this week where they'll take on Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello.
