JOPLIN, Mo. – SWOSU Volleyball wrapped up its third and final day of the MSSU Lion Classic on Saturday against William Jewell but did not get the result they were looking for after dropping all three sets.

Despite the 3-0 result, the final score did not so easily summarize the match. SWOSU had all three sets within reach against the Cardinals with scores knotted up at 20-20 in the first set, 21-21 in the second, and 25-25 in the third. It was finishing in the late part of the sets that plagued the Dawgs.

Bright spots on offense were Maicee Morgan and Taryn Galt, who combined for 23 kills on efficient hitting.

The defense also held strong at the net, totaling 12 blocks in just three sets. Galt (5 BA) and Zoey Sparks (6 BA) had hands in over half of those blocks.

William Jewell finished with eight service aces, while SWOSU had four.

The loss moves the Bulldogs to 1-3 to start the season. SWOSU travels to Lubbock, Texas next week for more tournament action where they will play five matches in three days.
