WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Basketball Coach
Terry Evans has officially announced six student-athletes joining the team for the 2022-23 season.
Of the six, four are transfers with collegiate basketball experience and two will be incoming freshman.
"All of our signees are proven winners," Evans said. "They are all great kids, great student-athletes, and are two-way players who will fit into our culture of doing things the right way. We're so excited to have all of them onboard to help make our team a legit NCAA contender."
Evans will enter his fifth year as head coach for SWOSU and is coming off a season that saw the Bulldogs win the conference tournament and compete in the national tournament. He states he expects to have additional student-athletes join the team for next season, alongside the six listed below.
Avante Lederer – 6' 7" Forward (Valdosta State University)
"Avante is long and athletic and an ideal two-way player for us meaning he can guard anyone on the floor and score the basketball. He, alongside
Nate Goodlow and
Mark Berry, helped lead NOC Tonkawa to the Final Four in 2021."
Nate Goodlow – 6' 3" Guard (Hutchinson Community College)
"Nate is also a great two-way player. He has excelled in high school (6A and Tournament of Champions MVP in 2020) and was part of the NOC team that made the Final Four. He can get to the basket at will and is a good three-point shooter."
Victor Irhirhi – 6' 5" Forward (Southern Arkansas University)
"Victor is a Dawg! He'll play both ends of the floor hard for us and has not only division II experience but GAC experience as well. We believe he'll be better offensively for us, and he fits perfectly into our defensive culture!"
Marques Warrior Jr. – 6' 2" Guard (Cameron University)
"MJ is another D2 transfer with outstanding size and defensive ability. He's a great driver and has a good mid-range game. He has averaged 10 points in the Lone Star Conference and was a winner at Putnam City West before the Covid shutdown in 2020."
Jonah Jenkins – 5' 11" Guard (Cashion High School)
Vance Raney – 6' 2" Guard (Cashion High School)
"Jonah and Vance both have the opportunity to have great careers at SWOSU! Like all our signees, they're great kids and also winners. They led their high school team at Cashion to a State runner-up and also had a great showing at the Tournament of Champions. We're excited to have these two high-level guards join the program!"
