Softball Starts Slow in Southeastern Series

DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Softball fell behind early to Southeastern and eventually dropped their series opener against Southeastern 13-1 on Friday. Before the Dawgs could settle in, the Savage Storm had established a firm margin and SWOSU failed to gain any momentum the rest of the way.

Southeastern racked up 15 hits in the game and it translated to 13 runs. Meanwhile, the Dawgs managed only three hits – one each from Jewell Lee, Maddie Rahon, and Hannah Franklin.

The home team jumped out ahead 3-0 in the first inning, broke the game open in the second with six more runs, and finished off their offensive day with four in the third.

SWOSU's lone run came in the fourth inning on an RBI double from Rahon which scored Lee who led off the inning with a double of her own.

Alisa Friesen started in the circle and pitched three innings before giving way to Kaylee Barkley who pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back tomorrow with a doubleheader against Southeastern set to start at 11am.
