WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Softball totaled 28 hits in two games against Arkansas Monticello on Friday and swept the Cotton Blossoms by scores of 13-5 and 7-4.
Jewell Lee finished the day 5-for-8 with a pair of home runs and three RBI.
Maddie Rahon also added five hits and finished 5-for-7.
The regular season concludes tomorrow with Senior Day, set to begin at noon at the Athletic Complex.
Game One – SWOSU 13, UAM 5 (5 inn.)
The day's opener saw SWOSU get down 5-0 in the top of the first, before they answered with six runs in the home half of the first and went on to score 13 unanswered runs.
After a pair of middle innings where both teams failed to score, SWOSU plated four runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to enact the run rule in walk-off fashion.
Jewell Lee homered to lead off the fifth, followed by a
Maddie Rahon single and a
Breanna Simmons walk-off home run that put the margin to eight.
Kaylee Barkley threw 4.2 innings in relief to earn her first victory of the season.
Game Two – SWOSU 7, UAM 4
Brianna Cryer threw seven strong innings to notch a complete game for the Bulldogs in the circle.
After UAM jumped ahead 4-2 in the fourth inning,
Skye Tilley and
Breanna Simmons both homered in the bottom half to regain the lead.
Now 5-4,
Hannah Franklin added two runs for insurance in the fifth with a two-RBI single with two outs.
Cryer got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth with one out by striking out the next two Cottom Blossoms. She again halted UAM's momentum with a double play ball in the sixth inning, and then struck out two in the seventh to close things out.
