SEARCY, Ark. – SWOSU and Harding were tied 4-4 in the sixth inning of Saturday's contest, but it was the Lady Bisons who pushed three runs across in their half of offense and went on to defeat the Bulldogs 7-4 to close out the series.
The Bulldog bats came alive Saturday, as the offense tallied 10 hits on the afternoon and were led by a trio of players who each finished with two hits apiece.
Skye Tilley finished 2-3 with two RBI, while
Breanna Simmons and
Kaylee Barkley both finished 2-4.
Both sides scored in twos through the first five innings. SWOSU started the scoring with two runs in the first inning but was immediately answered by Harding who plated two in the bottom half.
Dani Carmo and
Hannah Franklin drove in runs in the first, Carmo with an RBI groundout and Franklin with an RBI single. Simmons and
Maddie Rahon collected hits in their earlier at-bats to get the inning's momentum started.
Tied 2-2, the Lady Bisons grabbed a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth. That margin did not last long, thanks to a Tilley two-RBI single with two outs in the top of the fifth.
Back-to-back walks in the sixth to start the inning came back to haunt SWOSU. Harding would go on to deliver three-straight at-bats that drove in a run – making the score 7-4 in what was eventually the final.
Alisa Friesen and
Kaylee Barkley pitched in the circle on Saturday. Friesen went 1.1 innings before being relieved by Barkley the rest of the way.
