Bulldogs Come up Empty in Alva

ALVA, Okla. – Softball traveled to Northwestern on Wednesday for a midweek conference doubleheader but came up empty against the Rangers after dropping both games on the day by scores of 9-1 and 7-6.
 
Despite the losses, Maddie Rahon had a great day at the plate by finishing six-for-seven with a pair of RBI and runs scored.
 
SWOSU stays on the road in conference this weekend when they battle Southern Nazarene in Bethany.
 
GAME ONE (6 inn.)
NWOSU 9, SWOSU 1
 
Though the game was shortened due to run rule, SWOSU was right in the mix until the final inning. Northwestern only led 3-1 up until the sixth inning before they plated six runs to enforce the eight-run rule.
 
The Dawgs stranded the bases loaded trailing 3-1 in their half of the fifth after scoring their first run earlier in the inning.
 
Brianna Cryer (L, 2-5) pitched 5.1 innings and picked up the loss.
 
 
GAME TWO
NWOSU 7, SWOSU 6
 
The offense came to life in the nightcap and managed to plate six runs. SWOSU had small leads early and late but saw them diminish by the end of the contest.
 
Jordyn Wadley and Rahon both hit home runs, while Rahon also added a pair of doubles. Hannah Franklin also doubled.
 
The tying run was stranded on second base to end the game.
 
Alisa Friesen pitched all six innings in the circle and picked up the loss.
