BETHANY, Okla. - SWOSU Softball led the entire way until the final pitch against Southern Nazarene University, but lost 8-6.
SWOSU now falls to 2-7 in Great American Conference play. This is a three-game series and these teams will play again, 1 p.m. Monday in a doubleheader.
SWOSU scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Dani Carmo recorded a 2-run RBI double and Maddie Rahon and Jewell Lee scored. The next at bat, Carmo also scored when Jordyn Wadley recorded an RBI.
SNU got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after a SWOSU error. SNU scored another run, but SWOSU still was in front 3-2 after two innings of play.
In the top of the fifth inning SWOSU scored three more runs. Rahon scored as Kaylee Barkley recorded a sacrifice fly ball in center field. Aleah Bozarth did her job as a pinch hitter, as she hit a single into center field and recorded a two-run RBI. Skye Tilley and Hannah Franklin scored on this play, making it 6-2 going into the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Crimson Storm would score six runs in a row, two in each of the final three innings, and would win 8-6. SNU hit two home runs during that stretch.
Each team recorded 11 hits. SWOSU did record two doubles, but left 10 runners on base. Lee and Carmo each recorded three hits. Carmo and Bozarth also recorded two RBIs.
Brianna Cryer (L,2-6) pitched the entire game and recorded three strikeouts.
