SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball suffered two losses Saturday afternoon against Oklahoma Baptist. SWOSU fell 18-7 in a shortened first game and dropped game two of the day 11-7.
The Dawgs will play their next game, 3 p.m. Tuesday against Emporia State University.
Game One
OBU 18, SWOSU 7 (7 inn.)
SWOSU jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, but the Bison answered by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never once looked back or were threatened.
The Bison put the game out of reach in the fourth and fifth innings after they scored 11 runs in those two innings. The Bulldogs did make some noise in the last few innings, but the margin was far to great to overcome.
Nate Postlethwait (L, 1-3) was on the mound for the Bulldogs and pitched three innings.
Dakota Jones relieved him and struck out five.
Miguel Soto scored two runs and the Bulldogs recorded five RBIs.
Marc Gonzales finished 3-for-4 at the plate and
Alex Rice finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
Game Two
OBU 11, SWOSU 7
SWOSU took advantage of some wild OBU pitching and led 3-2 lead after two innings of play. However, the Bison scored seven unanswered runs between the third and fourth innings to take a commanding 9-3 lead.
SWOSU responded by scoring four runs in the top of the fifth inning to get back in the game, but OBU would score three more runs and sweep the Bulldogs.
The Dawgs used four pitchers this game.
Bryson Armstrong (L, 2-2) got the start and pitched three innings and recorded three strikeouts.
Rafael Perez-Guzman pitched 0.1 innings.
Matt Hopkins pitched one inning and recorded a strikeout.
Mac Cheney pitched 1.2 innings and recorded a strikeout.
Raymon Vingochea finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Seven players from SWOSU each scored a run.
