LAWTON, Okla. – The Bulldogs traveled down to Lawton today to faceoff against Cameron in some non-conference action but came up empty handed. SWOSU fell by scores of 8-6 and 7-4.
Up next for the Dawgs will be their home opener – a three-game GAC series vs Oklahoma Baptist on Friday and Saturday.
GAME ONE
CU 8, SWOSU 6
Breanna Simmons jumped SWOSU out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning with a solo-shot home run, but Cameron immediately answered with a three spot on the scoreboard in their half.
The Aggies tacked on single runs in the next two innings, before breaking the game open with another three runs in the fifth inning.
SWOSU scored three runs in their final at-bat, but the deficit proved too large.
Caitlin Delany and Jewell Lee both collected two hits apiece in the batting lineup.
GAME TWO
CU 7, SWOSU 4
Game two also saw the Dawgs jump out to an early lead, this time 2-0 thanks to RBI hits from Maddie Rahon and Dani Carmo.
Cameron again answered, with four of their own in the bottom of the first and then single runs in the second and third. A sac fly and an error plated two more for SWOSU in the fourth that chipped into their deficit, but that would cap off their scoring for the day while the Aggies added a run for insurance.
Rahon finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
