SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Basketball had one player named to the All-Great American Conference Team for the 2021-22 season, announced Wednesday evening at the awards banquet that proceeds the GAC Tournament. Junior guard Damion Thornton was placed on the first team, voted on by the league's coaches.

Thornton is SWOSU's leading scorer and rebounder and ranks second in scoring in the GAC at 18.6 points per game and sixth in rebounding with 7.4 rebounds per game. He has now received all-conference recognition in all three seasons he's worn a Bulldog jersey, having previously been named to the second team (2021) and an honorable mention (2020). He was also the GAC's Newcomer of the Year in 2020.
 
This is the first time a Bulldog has been named to the first team since the 2015-16 season when Markeise Champion did so.
 
SWOSU opens up the GAC Tournament tomorrow against (2) Oklahoma Baptist at 12pm inside FireLake Arena in Shawnee.
