WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Behind the duo of
Breanna Simmons and
Maddie Rahon, who drove in seven of SWOSU's nine runs at the plate, SWOSU Softball went on to defeat Ouachita Baptist 9-3 in Saturday's third and final game of their conference series.
The Dawgs take 2-of-3 from the Tigers on the weekend and claim their second straight home series victory in the process.
After falling behind 1-0, Simmons cleared the bases in the bottom of the second inning with a three-RBI double to the wall with two outs. Rahon followed suite right after with a single through the left side to score Simmons and after two innings SWOSU led 4-1.
Alisa Friesen came on in relief in the second inning, and from then until the fifth, held Ouachita scoreless. The Tigers broke through in their half of the fifth with a pair of runs off Friesen to inch closer and make the score 4-3.
SWOSU got those runs right back though with a pair of run-scoring singles in the bottom half of the fifth off the bat of Rahon and
Caitlin Delany. After five complete, it was SWOSU who led 6-3.
Another scoreless inning from Friesen in the circle had all the momentum in favor of the home side, and a three-run sixth inning appeared to seal the deal.
SWOSU remains at home for some non-conference action against Rogers State on Tuesday of this upcoming week, before traveling to Arkansas to face Henderson State this weekend.
