Baseball Run Rules Cameron in Midweek Action

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Bulldog Baseball let out some steam against Cameron Tuesday afternoon they had built up following their weekend sweep at the hands of Southern Arkansas. SWOSU scored 16 runs, a season high, and racked up 13 hits to end the contest early.

A Taylan Mullins-Ohm single in the bottom of the seventh brought in the run that put SWOSU up by 10 runs and initiated the run rule in walk-off fashion.

The offense played bully ball Tuesday. SWOSU hit four home runs and had six of their 13 hits in the game go for extra bases.

Enzo Bonventre had a pair of long balls and finished 2-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored. He has now homered in back-to-back games.

JC Reed hit a grand slam in the fourth inning that broke the game wide open. With SWOSU up 11-6, he belted his third home run of the season to left center and well over the outfield wall. Zach Baxley also homered in the game.

SWOSU scored six runs in the third inning and seven in the fourth to account for most of their scoring offense.

The Bulldogs actually trailed early. Ernesto Hidrogo (W, 1-1) surrendered a grand slam of his own in the third inning and SWOSU trailed 5-2. Hidrogo allowed all six of Cameron's runs on the day but benefited from the offense to pick up the win thanks to a shortened game.

Mac Cheney and Rafael Perez-Guzman both pitched scoreless outings in relief.

Cade Hamilton and Mullins-Ohm both finished with three hits apiece and combined for four runs and four RBI.

The Bulldogs will return to Great American Conference play on the road this weekend against Oklahoma Baptist. They will play a single game under the lights on Friday night starting at 5pm, before finishing the series with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
