EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball concluded the Edmond First Pitch Classic against host school Central Oklahoma on Tuesday, dropping a 6-4 contest to the Bronchos.
After a relatively quiet start offensively, the Dawgs trailed 6-1 through six innings before breaking through with a three-run seventh that tightened the game up.
Up until that point, SWOSU only mustered three hits through six innings. In the seventh inning, UCO gave the Dawgs an opportunity they jumped on by walking the first two hitters. A Miguel Soto double drove in the first run, followed by a Broncho error at short stop that scored two more shortly thereafter. Now trailing 6-4, SWOSU had life.
Unfortunately, in the final two innings SWOSU would go quietly in six up and six down fashion to end things.
Bryson Armstrong (L, 0-1) picked up the loss on the mound. He went five innings, allowed four runs (three earned), struck out five, and walked three. Four other Bulldog arms saw action in relief.
Zach Baxley produced a multi-hit game and finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Alex Rice and Soto both had an extra-base hit, and Ramon Vingochea and Soto were responsible for SWOSU's RBIs.
SWOSU will return home this weekend to host Adams State in a four-game series starting on Friday. First pitch for game one of the series is scheduled for 2pm.
