WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The No. 20-ranked Lady Bulldogs had a game on their hands in the first half against the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns, but a huge third quarter helped lift SWOSU to a 90-59 victory on senior day to finish the season a perfect 13-0 inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
Bethany Franks and Lauren Ramey were both honored before the game as SWOSU's pair of seniors. Both had strong performances in the game, as Franks finished one rebound shy of a double-double and Ramey scored 14 points on 5-of-9 (56%) shooting.
Each team went stride for stride in the first quarter, with four lead changes and six ties. The teams were tied 19-19 after 10 minutes. Macy Gore scored 10 points in the quarter.
The second quarter was much of the same, but Gore was held scoreless in the second quarter. Neither squad could gain an edge, but the Lady Bulldogs were in front 35-34 at halftime.
Bethany Franks scored 11 points in the first half. A struggle for SWOSU was in the paint, as they gave up 22 points in the paint in the first half.
SWOSU took control in the third quarter, outscoring Arkansas Tech 31-11. SWOSU accomplished this by forcing nine turnovers and shooting 11-of-21 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line. SWOSU also scored 18 points in the paint.
With the game result in question, Kelsi Musick pulled Bethany Franks and Lauren Ramey for one final standing ovation from the Bulldog faithful.
Macy Gore scored 19 points, Franks scored 16 points, Ramey scored 14 points and Makyra Tramble scored 12 points. SWOSU put in work on defense, as they forced 20 turnovers and in turn, scored 29 points off these turnovers.
SWOSU improves to 24-4 and 18-2 in GAC play. SWOSU will play their next game, 5:30 p.m. Thursday on the road at East Central.
