EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Softball hung with the No. 20-ranked UCO Bronchos early, but eventually fell 8-0 to the host school to wrap up their time at the Edmond Regional Festival.
UCO scored two runs in the first inning and another in the second to grab a 3-0 lead early. Brianna Cryer did a good job limiting the damage through the middle innings and held the Bronchos scoreless in the third and fourth inning, but the UCO offense came alive late to reach the 8-run rule by the fifth inning.
Breanna Simmons and Kaylee Barkley both notched hits for SWOSU in the contest, but that would do it for the offensive production.
SWOSU will return to action this Wednesday at Cameron with a doubleheader against the Aggies. They will look to avenge their 11-4 season opening loss to Cameron that came back on Friday.
