SWOSU Gets One Back vs Adams State

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU's offense returned to its normal self on Saturday after struggling yesterday in the series opener. They tallied 12 hits and scored 14 runs in a 14-4 run rule over Adams State.

Timely hits, Adams State errors, and effective pitching were the topics of the day.

SWOSU had plenty of baserunners thanks to those 12 hits – four of those for extra bases including one home run – and seven errors by the opposition.

The offense scored in every inning but the third and posted crooked numbers in every inning they scored but one.

Zach Baxley (4-5) and JC Reed (3-5) combined for seven hits in the ball game and six RBI. Taylan Mullins-Ohm hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the first inning and drove in three total runs on the afternoon.

Philip Sanders (W, 1-0) picked up the win with 5.0 innings of work. He struck out three and allowed two runs, both unearned. Chase DeFillipo threw two innings in relief and gave up two runs before giving way to Matt Hopkins who pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

The win evens the series up at 1-1 heading into tomorrow's doubleheader that will conclude the action. First pitch for the day is set for 11am.
