Game Preview
  • SWOSU Football will again look to bounce back this week following a loss to nationally top-five ranked Ouachita last weekend. The Bulldogs will welcome Southern Nazarene to Weatherford for Homecoming looking to do what they've already done twice this season: win the week after losing
  • Both SWOSU and Southern Nazarene are coming off weekends where they played a ranked opponent. SNU just fell 56-28 to No. 11/7 Harding a week ago. The 28 points they scored marked the most points scored on a Harding defense all season
  • For a third straight week, the Dawgs will need to stop the run. SNU ranks third in the league in rushing at 259 yards per game, led by quarterback Gage Porter whose 857 yards on the ground leads the GAC
  • The Dawgs will be looking to avenge a 30-22 loss to the Crimson Storm last season. SWOSU is 8-2 all-time against SNU, but have lost two of the last three matchups

The Opponent - Southern Nazarene
  • SNU enters Saturday with a deceitful 1-5 record. They have been in games late with both Arkansas Monticello and Arkansas Tech, and their lone win of the season came against a Southeastern team that SWOSU has already lost to
  • Mentioned above, Gage Porter is the offensive catalyst. He is accounting for 262 yards of total offense each week: (143 rush per game and 119 pass per game)
  • SNU's next best rusher is Angel Ramirez, who has gotten 46 touches for 196 yards
  • The Crimson Storm are prone to shootouts, allowing a GAC high 44.5 points and 497 yards per game
  • Defensive back Josh Johnson's three interceptions has him tied for second in the league
  • The Crimson Storm have only two sacks through six games on defense

SWOSU Offensive Notes
  • SWOSU is averaging 403 yards per game, ranked sixth in the GAC in total offense. The Bulldogs' 1,643 yards through the air ranks them second in the league behind Southeastern
  •  QB Tylan Morton now has a streak of five games where he thrown at least two touchdown passes. His 15 TDs through the air this season is first in the GAC // T-9th in Division II
  • Morton loves to share the ball around. Four SWOSU WRs are averaging at least 40 yards per game receiving and account for 11 of the 15 passing TDs this season
  • Cameron Hairston (TD, 41 ypg), Jalen Lampley (2 TD, 61 ypg), Deshon Moreaux (5 TD, 68 ypg) and Isreal Watson (3 TD, 69 ypg) are all contributing to the passing attack
  • Watson's 45 catches this season ranks him first on the team in grabs and third in the GAC. He is the typically the beneficiary of the screen play SWOSU loves to run for quick action
  • Aside from the above, Jacob Karsak is another popular option mostly in the red zone. The tight end has three touchdown grabs this year and 12 catches
  •  Gerald Palmer has overtaken Troy Henderson as the team's leading rusher. Palmer has ran the ball 62 times for 277 yards and a pair of scores. He is the only rusher SWOSU has currently averaging at least 4.0 yards per touch
  • Last week snapped a three-game streak of SWOSU rushing for at least 100 yards
  • Passing wise, the Dawgs throw downfield. Moreaux, Lampley, and Hariston all average at least 15 yards per catch with season longs of at least 50 yards

SWOSU Defensive Notes
  • The defense had settled in the two weeks prior to Ouachita -- holding OBU to 221 yards of total offense and UAM to less than 100 yards of rushing as the first team to do so
  • Last week against No. 5/4 Ouachita, SWOSU allowed 709 yards of total offense. That's the most yards allowed in the program's D2 era
  • SWOSU's 21 sacks leads the conference, led by Rece Wilhelm (4.0) and Carter Norrie (3.0)
  • SWOSU's eight interceptions ranks second in the conference, led by Ashton Hamby and Derrius Franklin who have two apiece
  • Keldric Martin had eight tackles against OUA and now has 42 on the season to lead the team. He has nine more than Treymon Fullwood and Christian Toeleiu (33 each)
  • The past two weeks have been a tale of two contests for the rushing defense. SWOSU sits sixth in the league allowing 219 yards per game on the ground. (481 last week against Ouachita, 94 against Monticello)
  • SWOSU has allowed 31 touchdowns this year, only behind Northwestern and Southern Nazarene in the category and surrenders 38.2 points per game
  • Opponent 3rd down conversion rate: 36.9% // 31-84 (4th in GAC)
  • Opponent 4th down conversion rate: 50% // 7-14 (6th in GAC)

SWOSU Special Teams Notes
  • 2x Special Teams Player of the Week Jaren Van Winkle is now 9-11 on the year in field goals. He is tied for the most makes (9) of any kicker in the league
  • Jalen Lampley is one of two players in the league to return a punt for a TD this season
