DENTON, Texas – SWOSU Volleyball earned its second victory of the year and its second in a row early Friday morning, winning 3-1 in a hard-fought battle with Southwest Baptist.

For the second straight day, the Bulldogs relied on a series of big scoring runs to help them to a win. Another strong start in the first set saw the Dawgs start with a 6-0 run that put them in the driver's seat, and then back to back service aces from
Sophia DeSantiago wrapped up the first set victory for SWOSU.

The remaining sets were not so easy. After dropping the second set, the Bulldogs found themselves tied late in both the third and fourth sets. In the third, knotted up at 22-22, a service ace from Freshman
Terez Chavez proved to be the key point to give SWOSU the set. Then in the fourth, down 20-23, the Bulldogs pulled off another incredible scoring run. Scoring five straight points, including a service ace from
Allie Hoang and a kill from
Taryn Galt, to win the set and the match.

The team acquired a significant amount of their points against the Bearcats via service ace, almost doubling their season high by landing 13 as a team. Their next highest count on the season had been seven against West Texas A&M. The Bulldogs only had 17 aces in all of their previous games combined.

Markenznie Benoit led the team with an efficient 11 kills with only one error.
Allie Hoang was solid in the middle once again with 32 assists, 10 digs, and three service aces. Freshman
Taryn Galt continued to produce this tournament, contributing nine kills for the second straight game with her final kill winning the match.

With the win SWOSU moves to 2-4 on the season and will have the opportunity to get back to .500 with a double header coming on Saturday. Their first match of the day is a rematch against Texas-Permian Basin at 9:00 am followed by a faceoff with the host team Texas Woman's at 2:00 pm.
