SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Softball opened up Great American Conference play this weekend in Shawnee with a three-game series at Oklahoma Baptist. The Bulldogs dropped a pair of one-run games in the season, including an extra-innings affair in the series finale.
SWOSU (0-6, 0-3 GAC) returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State for a 1:00 pm doubleheader that is the Bulldogs home opener.
Game 1: OBU 5, SWOSU 4
The Bulldogs got three runs in the top of the first inning with RBI singles from
Miranda Grover,
Keanni Barron and
Gracen Williamson, but found themselves trailing 4-3 in the sixth when
Dani Carmo came through with an RBI single to tie the game. OBU then got an RBI infield single in the bottom half of the inning for the deciding run in the opener.
Alisa Friesen allowed four runs on five hits over the first 3.1 innings in the circle before giving way to
Miranda Grover (0-2), who allowed one run on three hits in the final 2.2 but took the loss.
Game 2: OBU 4, SWOSU 0
SWOSU was held to four hits in the second game of the series while OBU scored single runs in the first and fifth innings and two in the second to build an early lead they maintained throughout.

Dustie Pence each had hits in the game for SWOSU.
Grover (0-3) tossed a complete game, allowing four runs – three earned – on eight hits as the pitcher of record.
Game 3: OBU 6, SWOSU 5 (8 inn.)
A pair of home runs had the Bulldogs in position to earn their first victory of the season as
Hannah Franklin homered in the top of the sixth to git the game at 4-4 and force extra innings and
Breanna Simmons hit a solo shot to lead off the top of the eighth to give SWOSU the 5-4 lead. After recording one out in the bottom of the eight, however, SWOSU allowed back-to-back hits, the second a two-run walk off home run to right as OBU finished off the three-game sweep.
Brianna Cryer and Friesen (0-4) combined to allowed six runs on seven hits while striking out five for the Bulldogs.
