WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball avenged Tuesday's loss at Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday night with a 3-1 victory over the Savage Storm at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
The Bulldogs dropped the opening set 25-18 before rattling off wins in each of the next three by scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-19 to secure the victory.
SWOSU overcame a lesser hitting percentage in the match with 13 service aces, a season-high by a wide margin.
Allie Hoang had a team-high five aces on the night, including a run of three straight early in the fourth set as the Bulldogs scored the first nine points of the set on her service.
Ashley Jekel added four aces in the match and
Chezney Nielsen served up three of her own.
Lacy Mott led the way for SWOSU with 12 kills while Nielsen had 11 and
Samantha Kuzma put down 10. Hoang led SWOSU in both assists and digs with a double-double of 35 assists and 14 digs.
Sophia DeSantiago added 11 digs and nine assists while
Josie Pumphrey also had 11 digs.
The win improves SWOSU to 5-5 on the year and 5-4 in Great American Conference play heading into their regular season finale, which will also be Senior Night at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center as the Dawgs host Northwestern Oklahoma State next Wednesday, March 31.
