Hays, Kan. – The Men's Basketball squad did not lead at any point against Fort Hays State and inevitably fell to the Tigers 70-54 on Sunday to conclude the GAC/MIAA Challenge.
10 different Bulldogs scored in the contest, but only one posted double digits – Jaylan Williams who finished with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. He also added a pair of blocks to his stat sheet.
SWOSU's cold shooting in the first half got them in trouble and is where the hole was dug. As a team in the game's first 20 minutes, the Dawgs shot 5-for-26 (19%) from the field and a mere 1-for-12 (8%) from three-point land. Going into halftime, SWOSU trailed by 18 points at 35-17.
In the second half, the offense heated up but just a little too late. SWOSU shot 45% as a team out of the break and managed to outscore FHSU 37-35 in the half.
Mark Berry led the team in rebounding (6) while three Bulldogs each finished with two assists apiece.
The Bulldogs (0-2) will play in their home opener on Wednesday (Nov. 17) against Cameron. Tipoff from inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center is set for 7pm.
