Bulldogs Explode For Double Digit Goals

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Wow. If you were not at the SWOSU Athletic Complex on Thursday, you missed a historic performance from the SWOSU Soccer team. SWOSU won the contest 10-0 against the opposing Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene University.

The Bulldogs would come out of the gate swinging, scoring a goal within the first five minutes of the game, and never looked back. The score would be 4-0 at the end of the first half. Six more were tacked onto the scoreboard for good measure in the second half.

Multiple athletes shined on the field today. Brianna Benitez, who opened the game with the first goal, would acquire two more to complete the hat trick on the day. Benitez used this unprecedented scoring output to move into 3rd in the GAC in goals scored.

Brenna McGuirk came off the bench and also claimed a hat trick for the game, as well as an assist. This is her second career hat trick. Micaela Swain was the third Bulldog to score multiple goals, with 52nd minute and 56th minute goals. Solo Tsuruta (74') and Summer Bass (33') also both scored goals. Nicole Petrino added two assists.

Goalkeeper Kirstyn Dill had five saves, including one particularly impressive stop on an undefended attacker who had broken through the SWOSU backline to ensure the shutout. Southern Nazarene's Isabella Kingsakongthong made it beyond all of the Bulldog's defenders and had only Dill to beat. Dill did a great job of closing down the space and made an incredible foot save to keep the Crimson Storm scoreless for her first clean sheet of the season.

The 10 goals scored are good for the 3rd most goals scored in SWOSU Soccer history. The 26 points for the day also moves this game into 3rd all time in SWOSU Soccer history. As a whole, they set season highs in almost every offensive category (Goals, Assists, Points, Shots, Shot Percentage).

The Dawgs will certainly enjoy this momentous day and their current four game win streak for a couple days. This result is a great way to lead up to a big-time showdown between the first and second place teams in the GAC in Shawnee against Oklahoma Baptist University on Saturday, October 16th.
