BETHANY, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball played their second consecutive five-set match to open the season, but they again came up short in the deciding set and fall 3-2 at Southern Nazarene on Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs dropped the opening set 25-20, but rebounded to win the next two sets 25-23 and 25-20, giving them a chance to close out the match in the fourth set. The Crimson Storm, however, had other plans, tying the match at 2-2 with a 25-22 win in set four and pulling ahead in the fifth and deciding set before taking the victory at 15-12.
Lacy Mott led the way for SWOSU, posting a double-double with 19 kills and 17 digs to go along with two blocks while
Chezney Nielsen came up with 16 digs and
Taryn Galt added 14 kills.
Allie Hoang led the Dawgs with 47 assists and 22 digs for her second double-double on the young season.
The match was very balanced, statistically with SWOSU holding close advantages in kills (65-64), service aces (8-6) and digs (92-90) while SNU had the edge in hitting percentage (.209-.204) and blocks (9-7).
SWOSU (0-2) returns home next Wednesday evening to host East Central. First serve in that match is set for 7:00 pm at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
