BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Basketball was outscored 20-10 in the fourth quarter on Friday night as Arkansas-Monticello stunned the Lady Bulldogs 63-55, eliminating SWOSU from the tournament in the quarterfinal round for just the second time in the nine-year history of the event.
The game was back-and-forth throughout, but the Lady Dawgs had a 49-43 lead with 8:37 to play after
Makyra Tramble scored in the lane. From that point forward, however, SWOSU managed just two field goals and they were outscored 20-6 as league's top scoring defense limited their scoring opportunities.
SWOSU shot just 27.5% (19-69) from the field on the night, a number that was even lower from three-point range, where they connected on 6-of-28 (21.4%) attempts. The Lady Bulldogs forced 20 turnovers on the night, but only managed 12 points off of them while UAM scored 15 points off of 13 SWOSU turnovers.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by
Makyra Tramble on Friday night, as the freshman finished with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 4-16 from the field.
Lauren Ramey was the only other player in double figures, scoring 12 points on 4-9 shooting while
Tyra Aska had nine points and
Bethany Franks toatled seven points and 13 rebounds.
Now 21-8 on the year, SWOSU's resume for the NCAA Division II Tournament is complete and they will learn if it is enough to earn a spot in the Central Regional Championship. The Women's Basketball Championship field will be unveiled on Sunday night at 9:00 pm on
