Softball Falls Twice to Close Out Southeastern Series

DURANT, Okla. – Bulldog Softball suffered a pair of defeats on Saturday, falling to Southeastern Oklahoma State by scores of 3-1 and 8-7 at the Southeastern Softball Complex in Durant.

Southeastern wins the series 3-1, dropping SWOSU to 2-10 (1-3 GAC) on the year. The Bulldogs will be at home for the first time in 2020 next weekend with a four-game series against Arkansas-Monticello.

Southeastern 3, SWOSU 1

The Bulldogs managed just one run on five hits in the opener, with Kirsty Hines hitting an RBI single in the second inning to score Tara Hibbler and make it 1-1 at that point. Southeastern would then score twice in the bottom of the third and keep SWOSU off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Alisa Friesen (1-3) took the loss despite allowing just one earned run while striking out three in a complete-game effort.

Southeastern 8, SWOSU 7 (8 inn.)

SWOSU was well on their way to evening the series after scoring five runs in the third inning and they took a 7-3 lead to the bottom of the seventh inning. Southeastern, however, had other plans as they loaded the bases with two outs and got a grand slam to tie the game and force extra innings. In the extra session, Southeastern pieced together three singles, the final of which allowed the walkoff, game-winning run to score.

The Bulldogs got two home runs in the game, with Amanda Moreno and Keanni Barron each going yard as part of eight hits put together by the SWOSU offense. Miranda Grover pitched the first 6.2 innings, but Brianna Cryer (1-4) took the loss after allowing the go-ahead run in the eighth.
