Softball Splits at Southeastern

DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Softball opened Great American Conference on Friday by splitting a doubleheader at Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant. The two teams will reconvene on Saturday at noon for another doubleheader to decide the series.

Southeastern 4, SWOSU 1

The Bulldogs were limited to two hits in the opener on Friday and they didn't get on the scoreboard until Tara Hibbler came across for an unearned run in the top of the seventh. Hibbler was joined by Ashtyn McAdoo as the only SWOSU players to record a hit in the contest.

Miranda Grover (0-3) tossed a complete game, allowing four runs on seven hits to claim the decision.

SWOSU 5, Southeastern 4

A grand slam by Keanni Barron highlighted a five-run sixth innings, which provided enough run support for SWOSU to hold off the Savage Storm in the night cap. Southeastern scored first and led 1-0 after five innings, but SWOSU broke it open with five runs on five hits in the sixth, including the game-deciding grand slam. Southeastern answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, but SWOSU recorded the final out of the frame with the bases loaded and ended the threat.

Alisa Friesen (1-2) picked up her first win of the season after allowing just two earned runs in 5.1 innings while striking out two. Grover earned a save after retiring five-of-six batters she faced in the final 1.2 innings.
