WICHITA FALLS, Texas – SWOSU Softball picked up their first win of the 2020 season on Saturday by defeating Regis at the Midwestern State Invitational before closing out the event with a loss to the tournament hosts. The Bulldogs finish 1-3 for the weekend and they are 1-7 on the year heading into the start of conference play, which begins next weekend at Southeastern Oklahoma State.

The Bulldogs put up seven runs in the third inning – including a grand slam from
Amanda Moreno – on their way to the first victory of the young season. SWOSU scored once in the second, fifth and seventh innings to round out the scoring while Regis put up three runs in the third and one in the seventh.
SWOSU got hits from 10 different players in the game, including two apiece from Moreno and
Hannah Franklin, who also hit a home run and finished with three RBI.
Brianna Cryer (1-3) picked up her first career win after allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts over the final 4.0 innings.
Midwestern State 8, SWOSU 0 (5 inn.)
In the night cap on Saturday, Midwestern State scored three runs in the first and fifth innings and single runs in the third and fourth to end the game early via run rule. The Mustangs finished with 12 hits while SWOSU recorded five, but left five runners on base in the game.
Miranda Grover (0-2) suffered the loss after allowing six earned runs on 10 hits in 4.0 innings of work.
